Jack Fowler is heading to Manhattan University and has committed to continue his track and field athletic career as a Jasper. Jack had his signing ceremony, surrounded by friends, family and coaches who praised not only his athletic talents but his character, work ethic and leadership.

Jack will major in computer engineering at Division I Manhattan.

 

 

His track coach, Anthony DiMarco, talked proudly of coaching Jack and seeing the potential he showed early on in high school.

 

 

“When I met Jack, he was a freshman on my outdoor track and field team,” said Coach DiMarco. “It didn’t take long for him to set off my radar as I recognized his talent and potential in the sport. I remember wondering why he had never done track before at the modified level or during the winter indoor season.”

 

Coach later learned that Jack had his sights on the high school golf team while he was in middle school. He tried out for the golf team and missed making the team by one stroke.

 

“In a strange twist of fate, that one missed stroke set him on a path that I imagine no one could have possibly predicted as he made the decision to give track a try,” Coach DiMarco noted.

 

At the end of his first season, Coach strongly encouraged him to return for indoor track the following year.

“I told him and his parents that if he stuck with us, big things would come for him,” Coach said.

This is certainly one of those “big things.”

Here are some of Jack’s Pine Bush career highlights, courtesy of Coach DiMarco:

• As a sophomore, Jack would go on to claim the 4x400m relay all-sophomore class record during the indoor season.
• During the outdoor season, Jack would claim the freshman/sophomore high jump relay record.
• As a junior, he tied the junior class indoor high jump record.
• In spring of junior year, he would go on to take the varsity 4x100m relay record which had previously stood for 25 years.
• As a senior, Jack has claimed the varsity high jump relay record.
• During the indoor season, Jack claimed the senior class and overall high jump record, clearing 6’7”. This is higher than any other athlete has ever jumped in Pine Bush’s illustrious history.

“To sum it up, since Jack’s sophomore year, he has broken a school record every single season as well as become a three-time state athlete, getting on the podium and medaling at two of those three state championship meets,” Coach DiMarco added.

“Jack is the ideal athlete,” he continued. “If someone asked me who would be on my Mt. Rushmore of athletes that I have coached over the past decade, I can confidently tell you that Jack Fowler would be on my Mt. Rushmore. He is smart, respectful, talented, hard- working, a leader and an example setter for those around him. He has been a model captain for me for the past two years and I am sad to see him exit our program. But all good things must come to an end so that new even greater things can begin. I could not be prouder of Jack’s accomplishments here in Pine Bush and I look forward to hearing about his future endeavors in the years to come. Congratulations Jack!”
