“This recognition is not given lightly,” said Superintendent of Schools Joe Lenz who spoke to the group at the ceremony. “It reflects not only your exceptional talent in the visual arts, but also your commitment to academics. Maintaining such high standards across both your artistic and academic work speaks volumes about your character and determination.”
The Pine Bush NAHS has reached out into the community on many occasions. Members have spent time and made projects with senior citizens, sharing stories with them and creating relationships. They update the PBHS library windows seasonally and have partnered with the Pine Bush Special Education Parent Teacher Student Association (SEPTSA) to bring awareness during March, Disabilities Awareness Month. They presented an amazing district-wide art show in April, providing art activities for kids throughout the evening. They planned and facilitated the disabled artists workshop during Wellness Day at PBHS and maintain the Free Little Art Gallery project in Pine Bush. And that’s just some of their activities.

“Art has a unique power,” said Mr. Lenz. “It allows us to see the world differently, to express what words sometimes cannot, and to build bridges across generations and experiences. Each of you has chosen to develop that power, not just for personal growth, but to enrich your community. That choice matters.”
This is the fourth year PBHS has a chapter of the National Art Honor Society. The NAHS is open to high school students who have demonstrated an outstanding ability in visual arts. This program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character and service. One of the goals for NAHS is to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
The National Art Honor Society has provided national recognition and opportunities for students who exhibit outstanding scholarship in the visual arts, and for their teachers. Participation in NAHS provides students, faculty, school, and the community with invaluable benefits, including peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities and college and career preparation.
