Earlier this year, New York State, led by the governor, passed a new law that will go into effect this fall, prohibiting student use of smartphones and similar internet-enabled devices during the school day in all public schools. While students may still use these devices before and after school, they will no longer be permitted during the instructional day in any public school across the state.
