Pre-Kindergarten at Pine Bush

The Pine Bush Central School District currently offers a full-day pre-kindergarten program at no cost to families. The program provides services for 198 students through 11 pre-kindergarten classes – four at Pine Bush Elementary, three at EJ Russell Elementary and two at both Pakanasink Elementary and Circleville Elementary. The pre-kindergarten students follow the same schedule as their respective elementary schools.

The pre-kindergarten experience engages children in activities that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth through books, puzzles, art materials, dramatic play props, and math and science manipulatives. New York State certified teachers and teaching assistants provide carefully planned instruction with lots of opportunities for children to make friends, be considerate of others, experience new things and, by the end of the school year, be prepared for kindergarten.

Eligibility and Application Process

To participate in the pre-kindergarten program, children must be residents of the Pine Bush Central School District, and must be 4 years old by Dec. 1 of the year they would begin pre-kindergarten.

Selection for enrollment in the program is made through a random lottery process based on the number of students the program can accommodate.

There are openings for the 2023-2024 school year. Please click here to submit an application.

If you have any questions regarding the pre-kindergarten program, please contact Peggy Fontana at 845-744-2031 ext. 4808.
