Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year.

The attached packet for the opening of school includes important information and forms to complete. There are multiple forms and this information is important in many aspects. Even if you start the year in an all virtual environment, we will need to have these forms completed in anticipation that we will be able to return to school before the school year comes to a close.

Emergency forms must be updated annually so the district has the most current contact information, including any changes in family composition and dynamics. Information regarding your child’s health, Non-Discrimination Grievance Procedures, publicity, pesticide use and other documents are also included.  The updated Free & Reduced Meal Application (English or Spanish) must be completed each year.

The Code of Conduct Summary is included for your information, as well. It is important to note that the expectation of the Pine Bush Central School District is to provide a safe, secure environment for students to learn and to provide equal educational opportunities.  The District prohibits discrimination, bullying and harassment, including anti-Semitic harassment, against students, including but not limited to those acts based on a person’s actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity or expression), or sex on school property and at school sponsored activities and events that take place at locations off school property.

The District has no tolerance for name-calling and bullying.

Procedures are in place to address these issues. The complete Code of Conduct can be found on the district website  which clearly outlines the minimum and maximum disciplinary consequences for such conduct which is progressive and ranges from a warning to the maximum out of school suspension with superintendent hearing in accordance with the nature of the offense.

Please take the time to review the attached information and discuss these important policies with your child.

I wish you all a very productive, safe and successful school year.

Sincerely,

Tim O. Mains
