Congratulations to the Pine Bush Elementary School fifth-grade students! They, their families and teachers gathered to mark their moving up to middle school!
Principal Eric Winter welcomed all to celebrate this wonderful group of students, all they’ve accomplished throughout their elementary years, and to look forward to the opportunities that await them.
“It means so much to your children and all of us that you’re here today to recognize and honor their hard work and accomplishments,” said Mr. Winter.
“Your presence makes this moment even more special. I want to thank you for your unwavering support and flexibility through the last few years. They’ve had challenges but through it all, your children have shown perseverance, resilience and dedication. They’ve made it through with strength and spirit. You should be incredibly proud.”
Principal Winter also reminded parents that their role in their children’s lives is still so important.
“As we look ahead, I want to remind you your role is far from over,” he said. “Please stay involved. Encourage high expectations for your children’s academics and their behavior. It’s so important! Never stop asking about their day.”
Interim Superintendent of School Amy Brockner spoke to the students and everyone involved in aiding them in their journey to this point.
“This year throughout the Pine Bush Central School District, we’ve rallied around a powerful theme: One Team, One Mission,” Ms. Brockner said. “It’s not just a phrase – it’s a mindset. It reminds us that our greatest strength lies in unity – in learning together, lifting one another up and tackling challenges side by side.”
To parents, guardians and families, Ms. Brockner thanked them for everything they do for the students.
“You’ve been the unwavering support behind the scenes,” she said. Thank you for being your child’s first and most important teacher. Today’s celebration belongs to you as well.”
She also told the PBE staff – “Your daily dedication has gone far beyond academics. You’ve nurtured responsibility, compassion and resilience in these young minds. You’ve shaped them into the wonderful people they are becoming.”
And of course the students.
“You’re about to begin a new chapter at Crispell Middle School,” she said. While some things will change, the core values you carry should remain the same. Stay curious. Be kind. Support one another.”
There were several special awards presented to PBE fifth-grade students.
The Triple C Award, recognizing the courage, character, and commitment of New York State’s outstanding students, was presented to Jack Trad, Fiona Dolson, Ryan Cerbo and Alec Kahn.
The New York State Comptroller’s Award is given to students who have shown academic excellence and the potential for leadership through involvement in activities that improve their school and community. “A new journey awaits you,” said Ms. Brockner. “As you turn the page, always remember everyone here believes in you. We believe in your potential to make a difference, to lead with integrity and to stay rooted in the values you’ve learned at Pine Bush Elementary.”
It was a wonderful celebration of the students, with their families and teachers. Afterwards, the PTA provided refreshments and there were smiles and hugs all around!
