It was a pleasure to have Dr. William Bassett and members of the Wallkill East Rotary Club visit all four of our elementary schools to distribute dictionaries to our third-grade students! The effort is part of the Rotary Club’s Dictionary Project, an initiative to help improve literacy in students nationwide. It has also been a cherished tradition at Pine Bush since 2008.
Our students were beyond grateful to receive their very own copy. The excitement in their eyes as they flipped through the pages and discussed word definitions with their friends put a smile on everyone’s face.

A total of 345 dictionaries were presented to the students. Once all of the dictionaries were distributed, Dr. Bassett asked each student to look up the definition of the word “service” as a homework assignment. He emphasized the importance of service, as it is a central tenet of the Rotary Club’s mission and can lead to a successful, fulfilling life.
Thank you to Dr. Bassett and our partners at the Wallkill Rotary East Club for their continuous support for our students!
