Third-graders get a taste of Mexico while celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

What a great day in Ellie Cassidy’s third-grade class! Recently, two parents and a grandparent, Raquel Martinez, Yesenia Macerone, and Maria Rivera, visited to share their Mexican heritage during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Third-grade kids walk along and look at all different things on a table.

The students looked through a display of cultural toys, clothes, foods and more. Mrs. Martinez showed a slideshow with pictures of her hometown in Mexico.

A woman stands in front of a long table that is filled with items pertaining to Mexico.

This was a hands-on experience! Students even learned how to make tortillas! They sampled the tortillas in quesadillas.

Two third grade kids make dough. One has her hands in the bowl and is smiling to the camera.

A big thank you to our guests and to our local restaurant, Sabroso, which donated fresh guacamole for the students to taste. It was absolutely delicious!

Shimmering colorful strands in the background. There are four third-graders standing arm-in-arm and smiling.
