Students learn about Hanukkah traditions at PBE

Students in Stacey Venzel and Jessica Fobert’s class at Pine Bush Elementary learned all about Hanukkah and its traditions recently. It was part of their nonfiction unit as they learn about their classmates’ cultures.

The students learned the meaning of the menorah. Thanks to classmates Delilah and Hayden, the students learned how to play dreidel.

A group of four fourth-grade students smile as they play dreidel with an adult woman.

They used their math unit blocks to make the gelt pot and even practiced their fractions and other math calculations since the gelt shrinks and grows based on each player’s dreidel spin!

Four elementary students sit at four desks that are pushed together and play dreidel game.

The class loved playing dreidel so much that it has been added to the list of rewards the class is working toward! Hopefully they will get to play it again very soon.

Two fourth grade girls, the girl on the left is wearing a red shirt with a white heart on it and the girl on the right has a black shirt and black and white plaid leggings - stand together holding their dreidel.
