Pine Bush High School senior Jacob Quinonez and junior Salome Gomez took their oath of office Tuesday evening at the board of education reorganization meeting, making them the first student representatives on the Pine Bush School District Board of Education.
Jacob will serve as the student representative for the 2025-2026 school year. Salome will be the alternate when needed for this upcoming school year and will serve as the student representative for the 2026-2027 school year. Both were selected by the Pine Bush High School student body in an election in May.
“We are excited to welcome Jacob and Salome to the board as they take their place and represent the students of Pine Bush High School,” said Superintendent of Schools Joseph Lenz. ” We appreciate the insight that they have already offered around the cell phone policy and how to communicate it to the student body. We look forward to their continued insight on many other topics as we strive to better support our students.”
Although the student representative is a non-voting member of the board, they play a key role in fostering direct communication with the student body and ensuring student voices are considered in decision-making.
Welcome, Jacob and Salome. Thank you for stepping up to represent your peers and share their concerns. Your voices will help guide the district’s efforts to better support all students.
