Put yourself first at Wellness Club

Walk into Kristin Raucci’s Wellness Club and you immediately feel the melting away of your day. The lights are off, the scent of lavender fills the air and soft, soothing music fills the room along with some quiet chatter among the students.

Two high school boys go through magazines looking for items to cut out and put on their vision boards.

Today the students are working on vision boards. They are thinking about what they want to do in their lives, what their vision is for their own future. There is laughter among the dozen students in attendance today and talk of their school day that just ended.

A high school girl cuts pictures out of a magazine as she sits at a table. She is wearing a gray zippered sweatshirt and has shoulder length dark hair.

Wellness Club is a time for students to decompress, according to Kristin Raucci, the club’s advisor. One week they will be doing an art project, another a yoga class. They have fun while they do it with like-minded young adults, some friends and some soon-to-be friends.

Anyone can drop in whenever they feel the need. Ms. Raucci provides a calming space for all who need it. Wellness Club is held on Tuesdays after school in room 217. Come relax and take care of yourself.
