Pine Bush volunteer firefighters teach fire safety to EJR students

Members of the Pine Bush Fire Department spent some time with all EJR students Tuesday, part of fire safety week. They talked to the students about having a meeting place outside of their home should a fire occur. The rule, they said, is to get out, first and foremost!

A man stands talking to a group of small elementary students. He is a fire fighter. Behind him is a fire engine.

One of the trucks carries 1,000 gallons of water for smaller fires. Officer Anthony Borruso showed the students small, inflatable pillows that can move 2,000 pounds, an important piece of equipment when a vehicle has to be moved.

A group of small elementary children sit on grass and listen as a firefighter talks to them. Behind him is a large red fire engine that says Pine Bush FD.

One fire fighter dressed completely in his gear to show the students there is nothing to be afraid of should they come in contact with a fire fighter during an emergency. Never hide!

Small kids walk through a fire engine, with a firefighter on the outside to hold their hands coming down.

Three of the volunteers are proud Pine Bush High School graduates – Ephraim Anderson, Dan Healy and Andrew Colon!

Three young firefighters stand together, arm in arm, and smile.

Thank you to our community fire fighters who take time from their busy schedules and come to our elementary schools to teach our students about fire safety. You are truly life savers!
