PBE third-graders discover how wonderfully diverse our states are!

Third graders in the district are learning about the United States of America. They are learning about our government structure and about the 50 individual states. Students in Dina DiNoto’s third-grade class at PBE chose the state they wanted to delve into and went to work.

A group of four third-grade kids sit at desks working with chrome books, posters, crayons.

They researched facts about the state, its attractions and some interesting tidbits about them. Did you know that Hawaii is our 50th state and the Hawaiian alphabet has just 13 letters in it? Louisiana is home to the National World War II Museum. The highest elevation in North Carolina is Mount Mitchell, rising 6,684 feet above sea level. Washington mines gold, stone, gravel and sand. And did you know that William Hanna, a famous cartoonist with his partner Joseph Barbera, was from New Mexico?

After gathering their information, they cut out their state, colored it, put it on a poster and wrote some interesting facts around it. They were very proud of their projects and of all they learned about their state! Many hope to visit them someday.
