Since her freshman year, Paola Cabrera has been a dedicated runner for the counseling department at Pine Bush High School—always ready to lend a hand with a smile, no matter the task. Her consistent presence and willingness to help have made her a familiar and trusted face among the counselors and staff.
On Tuesday morning, Paola, now a senior, received a heartfelt surprise: a yearbook presented to her by the counseling department in memory of Lauren Cummings. Ms. Cummings was a beloved and longtime counselor at Pine Bush High School who passed away last May after a courageous battle with cancer.
Yearbook advisors Kelly Cooke and Emma Angel Caceres, looking for a meaningful way to honor Ms. Cummings’ legacy, collaborated with the counseling team to create a special tribute. Together, they decided that each year, a yearbook would be donated in Ms. Cummings’ name to a student who embodies the same kindness, dedication, and spirit of service that she brought to the school community.
This year, that honor goes to Paola — making her the very first recipient of this touching tribute. Congratulations, Paola, and thank you for continuing the legacy of compassion and commitment that Ms. Cummings inspired in so many.
