PAK students celebrate Black History Month through art

Students at Pakanasink have been celebrating Black History Month throughout February as well as kindness in Kia Ward’s art class. Each grade level has learned about the importance of kind words and how to use them in their artwork. While learning about kindness, each grade level is also learning about Black History Month.

Students created artwork inspired by artists, inventors, athletes, and activists. While creating their artwork, students chose a variety of different drawing, collage, and paint materials. Students in fifth grade created their artwork by selecting a specific African-American artist of their choice, including Amy Sherald, Faith Ringgold, and Nick Cave. They used their Chromebooks to learn more about their artist and their artwork.
