One School, One Book – EJR begins its Gooseberry Park adventure

EJR came together for a very special announcement recently – the entire school is participating in the One School One Book program! Their book? Gooseberry Park!

From the back of a large gymnasium, elementary students sit on either side.

Written by Cynthia Rylant, it’s about the unlikely friendship between a Labrador retriever named Kona and a squirrel named Stumpy in a park. With the help of a bat and a hermit crab, Kona helps rescue Stumpy and her babies, showing friendship, courage and family.

A woman dressed with a large tail like a squirrel excitedly talks to a group of kids. Behind her is a background of a park.

EJR announced the exciting launch in a big way! Kindergarten teacher Lisa Quick, aka squirrel, could be seen collecting items for her nest in the park. She gathered things from many different places, including a book revealed to be Gooseberry Park!

Five elementary students excitedly hold their copies of Gooseberry Park.

The One School One Book program encourages reading as a family and together as a class, helping to build a strong reading community! Happy reading EJR families!
