Orange-Ulster BOCES held its Outstanding Student Honoree Awards this week. Pine Bush High School valedictorian Lucas Meisel and salutatorian Leah Meberg were among the honorees from throughout the Orange-Ulster area.

“Lucas Meisel is truly an extraordinary student whose accomplishments reflect not only academic excellence, but also commitment, discipline and character,” said Superintendent Joe Lenz at the awards ceremony.
“Throughout all four years of high school, he has balanced a rigorous academic schedule while competing as a member of the soccer program, demonstrating leadership both on the field and in the classroom.”

Mr. Lenz noted that Lucas is described by one of the adults who knows him well, as a ‘quiet storm,’ “someone whose presence may be calm and humble, but when he speaks, everyone listens.”
As he introduced Leah Meberg, Lenz said Leah is described by those who know her best as ‘sunshine on a rainy day’ and ‘the nicest person ever.’
“She is the kind of student who lifts others up while quietly setting an example of excellence herself,” said Mr. Lenz.

In addition to her outstanding academic accomplishments, Leah has excelled athletically on the varsity soccer team, showing versatility, teamwork and leadership on the field.
“She represents the very best qualities of our school community: intelligence, compassion, resilience and character and we are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished.”
Congratulations to both Lucas and Leah for representing Pine Bush with integrity and positivity. You make us #PineBushProud
