Cheers for our unified basketball team!
These awesome players were coached by Lori Mataraza, Rachel Heller and Deirdre Babcock. As their season progressed, they improved with each practice and game.

“We couldn’t be more proud of these students, including our helpers who show up every day to help our kids, make them smile, and show them what it is to be on a team,” said Coach Heller. “We couldn’t have asked for a better group of students.”
Unified sports is an inclusive sports program created by Special Olympics that combines athletes with intellectual disabilities and those without on the same team for training and competition. The philosophy is simple: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship, understanding, and breaking down social barriers. It’s a wonderful experience for all team members!
