Kindergarten students sprinkle their magic in kindness

Lisa Quick’s kindergarten class at EJR learned a special lesson before the break – they learned that magic is real, the magic of kindness!

“We learned that it is inside of us, and every time we sprinkle someone with our magic we are spreading kindness,” said Ms. Quick. The students read the book, “My Magical Words” by Becky Cummings, which teaches them that their words have power. “I am strong. I am kind. I am special.”

They also learned the song “Don’t Hide Your Magic” by Emily Arrow. “Don’t hide your magic cause you’ve got a spark that could light up the dark.” They made wizard hats and decorated stars for their magic wands.

Each student brought a wand home with them. As they performed an act of kindness, they drew or took a picture of what they did to share with their class. Then they brought the wand back to school and passed it to a friend in a different class to perform their own act of kindness. Their goal: to spread kindness!
