Gavin Coleman, Sue Starr named April PBHS Pride Award winners

Big congratulations go out to Gavin Coleman and Sue Starr, the April PBHS Pride Award winners!

Each month, Assistant Principal Dan Wargo accepts good news referrals and faculty shoutouts for students and staff members. Administrators then choose one student and one staff member to receive the PB Pride Award.

Gavin Coleman

A 10th grader, Gavin was lauded by staff for his kindness and respectfulness.
“Gavin is an outstanding young man. Throughout the year, he has shown himself to be kind and respectful. When a student had a medical emergency in class, Gavin immediately stepped up to help me make sure the student was okay. When a debit card was found in a book, Gavin gave it to me without pausing to even consider keeping it. In a world where finding students whose first instinct to do the right thing is increasingly hard to come by, Gavin gives me hope. He gets excited about projects in class, enthusiastically participates at 7:30 in the morning, and promotes an overall happier classroom atmosphere simply by being himself.”

Sue Starr, School Related Professional

Sue’s colleagues note her institutional knowledge of PBHS and the initiative she takes in so many circumstances as the reason she has earned this award.

“Sue has institutional knowledge of PBHS from not only when her kids went to school here, but when SHE went to school here. Sue is absolutely essential during Regents testing. She sets up and executes what needs to be done without needed direction. Sue sees what needs to be done and gets it done. Recently, Sue took it upon herself to train a peer on the BOCES/CTEC attendance procedure in order to fill an anticipated void. This building runs efficiently because of Sue!”

The PB Pride Award recognizes one student and one staff member each month who exemplify a positive attitude, support their peers and colleagues, and help create a welcoming, uplifting environment at PBHS. Both receive PBHS T-shirts, made by our awesome PBHS School Store, and certificates. They also get to wear a huge PB pendant and chain, which is then passed on to future honorees, made by our talented staff in the Haas Center.

Congratulations to Gavin Coleman and Sue Starr, our April PB Pride Award winners! You both make us #PineBushProud!
