The Fine Art Academy had a very special project to work on this summer. They were asked to create a calming mural on the walls of a small room at Pakanasink Elementary School. It would be a place that younger students would want to go to, in case they are having a difficult time dealing with their day, to help reign in their emotions and find comfort. This group was on it.
Janice Barth and Julie Palinkas, the teachers at the art academy, worked with the counselors at PAK on just what they were looking for. They talked about different palates and scenery. They decided on a beautiful outdoor scene, especially nice since the room has no windows. There are trees and wispy clouds, a stream, and incredibly detailed birch trees. The greens and purples and blues certainly accomplish the calming.
The idea for the project actually started months ago. After approvals were given, they started prepping the room for the painting. Ms. Barth and Ms. Palinkas worked with the counselors on just what type of mural they were looking for. After two full days of painting, and an assist from PAK school counselor Carina Saint Louis who showed off some of her artistic talents, this gorgeous mural came to life!
Beautiful job!
