ENL potluck brings our diverse community together

What an amazing evening! The Pine Bush English as a New Language (ENL) International Potluck was a rousing success as the ENL program truly celebrated our district’s diversity.

David Miele and Maureen Curtain, ENL team leaders for elementary and second respectively, welcomed everyone to the event. ENL staff introduced themselves to all in the crowded Pine Bush High School cafeteria.

A line of adults stands with a screen in the background. A man holds a microphone and speaks.

Some students dressed in beautiful clothing from their native lands. There were two presentations by students about their homelands and a festive Mexican dance.

Three children dress in traditional Asian dress.

And of course there was food from around the globe! So much delicious food, lovingly made and shared with our Pine Bush community.

A long table filled with foods from around the world. There are lines on either side of the table as people spoon food onto their plates.

There were games for the kids – word games and math games to help their English language journey along. There were props for dress up and, of course, face painting, always a favorite activity.

A girl with long dark hair and a multi-colored blow in her hair closes her eyes as someone paints a flower on her cheek.

It was such a wonderful event, so much community spirit and camaraderie.
