CVMS students put their Spanish knowledge and fashion sense on the red carpet

Maggy Godinez-Garcia’s eighth-grade Spanish students in class 150 at CVMS put on a fashion show for their clothing unit.

They practiced all four fundamentals – listening, reading, writing and speaking, then presented each other in the target language and modeled the clothing by walking the red carpet.

The students used their clothing vocabulary and prior knowledge of seasons, colors and places. Some of the clothing items mentioned were: los pantalones (pants), los jeans, pantalones vaqueros, deportivos (jeans or sport pants),  el traje (suit), el vestido (dress), la falda (skirt), la camisa (shirt), los zapatos (shoes), los calcetines (socks), las gafas de sol (sunglasses) ,and  las joyas (jewelry). The entire fashion show was done in Spanish!

They worked so hard putting together each element and certainly showed off their Spanish skills. The students demonstrated self-confidence, teamwork and perseverance in overcoming the fear of learning a new language!
