The Life Skills class at Crispell Middle School recently participated in an educational field trip to the United States Postal Service in Pine Bush. Students had been working on writing letters and addressing envelopes, as part of both their literacy and community units.

As a final culmination of the units, the class visited the post office in Pine Bush. The post master gave the class a tour of the post office and spoke to the class about various jobs and responsibilities the post office employees had. It was there that students learned about the process of mailing a letter, what stamps are needed for, the difference between a purchased stamp and the stamper the post office uses, rules and regulations of mail carriers, mailing packages, and the purpose of a zip code.

The students were highly engaged and asked meaningful questions throughout the experience.
Following the visit, the post master handed out treat bags to the class. The parent chaperones enjoyed it as well. What a wonderful experience for everyone!
