The 39th annual Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council Substance Use Prevention Poster Design Contest is underway! There is also an essay contest.
This year’s theme is “Picture your future through a drug free lens.”
Poster Contest
Students who wish to participate are to design a 12 x 18 inch poster relating to that theme. The deadline for submissions is Monday, Jan. 26, 2026.
Here are some requirements:
- The theme must be on the front of the poster.
- The poster must be original work, in color, black and white or graphically designed;
- No copyright or trademarked logos allowed; no collage, pasted elements or pictures;
- Student’s name, school, grade, school contact and home phone number must be typed and placed on the back of the poster;
- Poster may be in English or Spanish;
- One entry per student.
Essay Contest
For those who prefer to use their words, there is an essay contest with the same topic: Picture your future through a drug free lens.
Students in grades 1-6:
- Must submit original work
- At least 100 words, typed
- Do not include identifying information in your essay such as name, age and address
For students in grades 7-12:
- Must submit original work
- 300-400 words
- Title does not contribute to the word count
- Do not include identifying information in your essay, such as name, age and address.
Essays must be emailed to prevention@adacinfo.com. If you have any questions, email them to the same address.
Each essay must include a cover letter with the student’s name, school, grade, teacher contact and phone number.
