Superintendent Joe Lenz presented the Christopher Bement Award at the 2025 opening convocation at Pine Bush High School on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The recipient is Pine Bush High School Principal Aaron Hopmayer.
“His voice can be heard booming with pride and encouragement and sometimes a reminder or two about what it means to be a member of this Pine Bush community,” said Mr. Lenz, as he built up to the announcement. “He leads not from behind the desk but from the heat of the action. For more than two decades, he has chosen to be part of this community, providing stability and vision to students and their families.”
Mr. Hopmayer has indeed been a leader in our district for 25 years now. He has brought the summer enrichment academies to life for students, giving them hands-on experience in the medical field, aviation, leadership and law, the arts and engineering. There is a skilled trades academy in our high school and three CTE programs. Thanks to his tenacity, PBHS has a state-of-the-art Haas Innovation Center and a partnership with NASA, putting Pine Bush students on the cutting edge of technology.
Why does he do all of that? “Because it’s good for kids.” That is his guiding principle.
Congratulations to Aaron Hopmayer We are grateful for your dedication to our district and most especially to our students.
