A thoughtful and fruitful gift of seeds for Pine Bush schools

“From little seeds grow mighty trees.” Or flowers and herbs, fruits and veggies!

Lowes of Middletown has donated thousands of packets of seeds to the Pine Bush Central School District, thanks to Gerri Wasserman, an employee of Lowes and a resident of the district. Ms. Wasserman, who is an extremely knowledgeable gardener and whose children went through PB schools, noticed that at the end of the gardening season, Lowes throws out the unsold seed packets. The seeds are packed for the current season but, as most gardeners know, are viable for the next growing season too. She asked her manager, Dave Lawrence, if she could have the seeds to donate to Pine Bush schools. He happily agreed!

Principals from every school in the district responded enthusiastically to the donation, which includes seeds for flowers, vegetables, fruits and herbs. The agriculture academy at Crispell will benefit tremendously from this donation! Many teachers in the district grow various plants as part of their lesson plans. Children will not only benefit academically by being part of the growing process of flowers and food, they’ll also get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. This seed donation will make a definite impact on our students!

The Pine Bush Central School District thanks you so very much Gerri Wasserman, Dave Lawrence and Lowes for your fruitful gift to our district!
