A new CVMS tradition is born – gingerbread house decorating champion is announced

Our CVMS staff recently teamed up with a colleague or worked independently to create theme-based gingerbread houses, and let’s just say… the competitive holiday spirit was alive and thriving!

After school, teams gathered in our Family and Consumer Science classroom for an afternoon of creativity, collaboration, competition, and good old-fashioned fun.

Armed with frosting, gumdrops, and a questionable amount of engineering confidence, teachers modeled the very skills we try to instill in our students every day—problem-solving, teamwork, perseverance, and the ability to laugh when your roof collapses for the third time.

Our school community voted for their favorite gingerbread house through a Google Form, and after many difficult decisions, the winners are:

1st Place~ House #13- created by Keri Giuliano

A gingerbread house made with a chocolate ground, candy walkway and a Santa sitting on the roof.

2nd Place~ House #10- created by Abby Williams and Katie Cavallucci

A gingerbread house made with a halloween theme with orange and black icing on the roof, a skull on the roof and cookies that look like headstones in the yard.

3rd Place~ House #3- created by Melissa Bertuccio and Jessica Guerrieri

A gingerbread house with a large blue and white snowflake on the top, candycanes all around and little reindeer n the hard. It also has lights.

A special shout-out to Jen Kirby for starting what is sure to become a beloved yearly holiday tradition at our school. Nothing brings people together quite like sticky fingers, shared laughter, and the universal struggle of trying to get royal icing to behave!

Here’s to more creativity, collaboration, and confection-based construction in the years to come!
