What a special day for the students and their families in Megan Collins’ first grade class! Some very special people in their lives came to hear them read their stories and celebrate them becoming authors!
The students wrote stories about something special to them – their favorite book or pet, a special class, something they like to do or a favorite person. They were sincere, sometimes funny and heartwarming. It was the culmination of their opinion writing unit.
The students had Ms. Collins right nearby if they felt nervous or stumbled over a word, giving them confidence as they read to a packed classroom.
Before each student began their reading, a brief video played where they introduced themselves, telling their name and age, and what they like about writing!
After everyone presented, there were cookies and snacks and lots of hugs and love from some very proud family members!
