Pine Bush mourns the passing of one of its students

Dear Pine Bush school community:

We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of one of our Pine Bush High School students following a long illness. Leisa Jean-Baptiste attended Pine Bush schools since elementary school. Our heartfelt condolences are with her family and friends during this very difficult time.

The loss of a child is a profound tragedy that shakes our entire community. Counselors are available to our students and staff to provide additional support, if needed. Over the next few days, please encourage your child to talk about how he/she is feeling while you also note their behaviors.

Please know that we are here to help your child and your family through this challenging time and have many supports available. We strongly encourage you to reach out to your building principal for further assistance if you have any concerns regarding your child’s reaction to this loss.

We are a strong community, and it is by leaning on one another that we navigate these incredibly difficult times. Please continue to support one another and keep Leisa’s grieving family in your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Joseph Lenz, Superintendent
