PBHS students get the message of “Wonder” and the meaning of empathy and kindness

Pine Bush High School library and media specialist Robin Renahan worked with Briana Caruso’s class recently after they read the book, “Wonder.” It’s an amazing book with a powerful message about kindness and empathy.

A woman talks to several students working at a table.

The teacher in “Wonder” has a precept every month. What’s a precept? It’s a rule! Rules about friendship, kindness and rules that help guide us all to be good people.

The students loved reading the book and their project with Ms. Renahan was to design their own precept. They worked together on their precepts, brainstorming with their teachers and classmates. When they were done, Ms. Renahan displayed them on the library windows.

A woman with glasses smiles and holds up a blue piece of paper made by the student next to her.

Kindness was definitely the theme for the students. What a wonderful project to do together!
