Sewing is a practical and creative skills to learn! At Crispell, Jennifer Muniz’s students in Family and Consumer Science took it step by step. First they learned the basics – how to measure their thread, thread the needle, knot it, and do basic stitches.

Then they moved on to their project – making a pillow! The students chose their fabric and put what they learned into practice.

By the time they finished, each had created a beautiful and unique pillow – great gifts for someone or a gift for themselves! Some were such quick learners, they made more than one and helped their classmates.

Learning to sew has so many benefits. It develops problem-solving skills, patience and attention to detail. It also promotes a more sustainable lifestyle by reducing waste. Financially, repairing clothes saves over buying new ones! Sewing encourages creativity and provides a terrific sense of achievement when a project is complete.

Great job to everyone! Be proud of what you have accomplished!
