We are so grateful for our community volunteer firefighters who teach us lessons of safety

Our wonderful volunteer fire fighters from throughout the area presented to our elementary students during Fire Safety Week and emphasized the importance of knowing what to do in case of a fire emergency at their home.

Members of the Pine Bush Fire Department showed the students at EJ Russell Elementary some of the unique equipment on their vehicles. The students learned how fire fighters break through doors and roofs, recapped what everyone should do in case of a fire, and even got to go onto the fire truck.

Two elementary boys come down the steps of a big fire truck.

The fire fighters stressed that everyone must know at least two ways to get out of their house or any room they are in. Have a meeting place too so that all in the household know that everyone is out safely.

An elementary student crawls out of the simulated smoke room as a firefighter holds the door open.

Students also had the opportunity to go through the smokehouse, giving them the opportunity to see what it is like to be in a smoky room, witness the smoke rising and drop to the floor to get out.

A firefighter dressed in a black coat and a hard firefighter helmet holds up a red and yellow ax and touches the sharp point as elementary students look on.

Thank you to our incredible community volunteers who take the time to spread their wisdom to our young students to ensure they are safe in difficult situations.
