The Pine Bush girls’ swimming and diving team have reached a historic milestone. They clinched their 90th consecutive dual-meet victory after a 108-70 win over Valley Central on September 16. The winning streak began nearly a decade ago on September 25, 2017. 

Several swimmers had outstanding performances during the historic meet. Anna Hajek won the 50m and 100m freestyle races in 26.52 and 58.42 seconds respectively. Norah Germano captured the 500m freestyle race in 5:48.95 minutes, Juliette Cassel won the 200 Individual Medley (IM) in 2:30.71 minutes, and Liana Williams secured victories in the 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke races in 1:02.08 and 1:08.53 minutes respectively. 

The 200 Medley Relay team, consisting of Norah Germano, Liana Williams, Anna Hajek, and Lila Hanson, took first place after finishing in 1:58.55 minutes. The 200 Freestyle Relay team, which includes Liana Williams, Lila Hanson, Dakota Wilson, and Sophia Gallagher, won their match in 1:50.84 minutes. 

“This is certainly a testament to the hard work and commitment from all the girls who have been part of this run,” said head coach, John Barth. “My hope is that everyone who has been involved in this streak, from the swimmers and divers, to the parents, guardians and grandparents, look back on this time in their lives with pride knowing how hard everyone worked, not only in the pool, but in the gym and in making sure they were at practice, even when they didn’t feel like it.”
