Superintendent addresses recent arrest of former substitute employee

Pine Bush Schools Community Members:

I am writing to notify the school community that a former substitute employee was arrested on July 2, 2026, in connection with an incident reported at one of our elementary schools on or about June 11, 2026, related to the unjustified use of physical force.

As soon as district administration became aware of the allegations, we immediately investigated the matter, communicated with the parent/guardian of the student(s) involved in the alleged incident, notified the appropriate authorities, and fulfilled all reporting requirements under Article 23-B of the Education Law. We also immediately ceased using this substitute employee in our schools.

While I am limited in what I can share due to the confidential nature of this matter and ongoing law enforcement proceedings, I want to assure families that student safety is and always will be our highest priority. District administration has acted in good faith, and in a prompt and responsible manner, at every stage and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities.

We understand that news of this nature may be unsettling for parents and the school community. Please know that we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment for every student. The well-being of our students guides every decision we make, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to protect those entrusted to our care.

I wish you all a happy 4th of July weekend.

Sincerely,

Joe Lenz
