PBHS’s Maya Sullivan submits winning theme for ADAC’s 2021 Prevention Poster Design and Essay Contest

Congratulations to Maya Sullivan, a Pine Bush High School senior and CTEC student whose theme was chosen for the 2021 Prevention Poster Design and Essay Contest, a program of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) of Orange County.

A high school age woman in a red coat holds a certificate and stands next to a man wearing a blue jacket and black pants. They are standing in front of a building.

Maya received a certificate for submitting the theme that was ultimately chosen for the campaign. And it’s a fitting one: Keep Hopes High When Life Locks You Down – Prevent Substance Abuse

Her art teacher, Derek Diaz, submitted Maya’s theme to ADAC.

Four people - a man and three women - stand in front of a building. All are wearing masks and one is holding a certificate.

Maya received a certificate from ADAC and will be recognized at the group’s award ceremony in May, according to Mary Alice Kovatch, prevention coordinator. Most important, her theme will have an impact on so many.

“Maya’s theme will be interpreted by literally hundreds of students throughout Orange County in the form of artwork and essays,” said Kovatch. “We are very proud of Maya and look forward to the wonderful artistic and literary submissions based on her theme.”

Awesome Maya! Pine Bush Central School District is very proud of you and your inspirational work.
