PBHS mathletes take first and second place in section

Congratulations to our Pine Bush High School mathletes for their success in Section B this year against teams from Valley Central, Monticello, Middletown, and Fallsburg. Pine Bush B team came in first place in Section B, while our A team placed second! A-team Senior Aaron Schoenberg also won a medal for the highest scoring individual in Section B!

Our B Team, as section winners, qualified to attend the regional competition at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday March 6. At the regional competition, Pine Bush B scored in a five-way tie for 13th place out of 18 schools that participated.

Math team members compete to solve high-level math problems without the use of a calculator. The problems require students to combine knowledge from all levels of high school mathematics. They also often ask students about topics beyond the scope of their regular math classes.
