Hello from CVMS! Students find many ways to say hello

Hola! Bonjour! Guten tag. Salve. Nǐn hǎo. Olá. Asalaam alaikum. Konnichiwa. Hello!

These are ways to say hello in different languages. That was one of the challenges given to CVMS as they marked Start With Hello just a couple of weeks ago – find as many ways as possible to say hello.

Start With Hello is a program of Sandy Hook Promise that encourages and teaches students to connect and include others as a way to diminish social isolation.

The CVMS students researched so many different ways to say hello. The winning classes that came up with the most ways to say hello are:

6th grade – Mr. Villani

Five sixth grade students point to a poster that is on a blackboard. On the poster are ways to say hello in many languages.

7th grade – Mr. Kellish

A group of seven seventh-grade students stand in a hallway and point to a very large list of words on a long poster. These are all ways to say hello in different languages.

8th grade – Ms. Williams

A group of five eighth grade students stand outside of a blue door that has a poster on it containing many different ways to say hello. The kids are pointing to the door and smiling.

Great job everyone! Now, let’s get out there, spread some happiness and Start With Hello!
