First grade students learn about our veterans and show their gratitude

Teresa Salvato’s first grade class at Pine Bush Elementary watched a Homeschool Pop video about Veterans Day. The students learned that a veteran is anyone who served in the military, and that the military defends our freedom on land, in the sea, in the air, and even in cyberspace.

The children were able to recall the five branches of the military by using the five finger retell on one hand. Together with Mrs. Salvato, they talked about all the things they are thankful for because of our veterans. The class made packets to send to 12 veterans expressing their gratitude for the veterans’ sacrifices.
