Pickleball for Beginners

Learn how to play pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the country. This class will teach you the rules and basic elements of the game and offer the opportunity to play games for fitness and fun with others at the same level of experience.

Intermediate Pickleball

Come out for a fun night of pickleball! Players should demonstrate a basic knowledge of the game including rules, scoring, and possess the ability to
serve/return balls consistently. Players will learn the fundamentals of dinking and third shot drops.

Body Sculpting

Grab your hand weights, your mat and your focus for this total body workout led by Gillian. This entire routine allows you to burn, tone, firm up or trim down. Work your way, at your pace, and strength, with this 60-minute workout using your bodyweight and dumbbells. Your metabolism will be revved up while you
burn major calories! Open to all ages, fitness levels, and genders.

Pilates/Tone

Pilates is a system of exercises that can be used as a full body workout, from mind and body. In this class we will focus on your postural alignment, strengthening and balancing muscles around your spine. This will give you a stronger core, by building, toning and leaning out muscles. Materials required for this class: a mat and a pair of dumbbells.

    American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

    The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training class gives you the skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The lifeguard training class includes CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer,  first aid training and waterfront lifeguarding. All course work is done virtually through the ARC Blended Learning Portal. Lifeguard certification is valid for two years, however New York State honors CPR certification for one year. Limit 12 students.

    American Red Cross – Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

    This course teaches students critical skills and  knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency until EMS arrives. Course content includes first aid basics, such as burns, cuts and scrapes; medical injury and environmental emergencies; and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help both adult and pediatric victims using CPR/AED. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certification card for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Students may purchase the book and/or a CPR mask for an additional fee. Call the continuing education office for
    more information. Limit 12 students.

    Five-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

    The NYS Department of Motor Vehicles mandates this course for all NYS permit holders. Students must register on FamilyID.com and include a copy of their photo learner’s permit with payment. After completion of the class, the
    students will be emailed to report to the Director of Continuing Education to sign off on their MV-278 certificate. If they do not attend the Pine Bush Central School District, it will be mailed to the address on the permit. This certificate is required to schedule a road test appointment.

    Sourdough Bread Baking

    Learn to make sourdough a simple way that fits your schedule.   Enjoy fresh,
    healthy bread for you and your family.   The first class you will learn the basics of sourdough, including starter care, and making a plain loaf. The second class will be troubleshooting and learning how to incorporate inclusions.

    Vocal Music Training

    Calling all singers! Whether you’re a car or shower singer, on stage, in the studio, if you’re a shy singer or professional diva, let me help you discover your authentic voice. This class will teach you breath control, audition tips, how to choose your songs, acting for singers and high note hacks.
    I will teach you how to practice projection and how to protect your gorgeous voice and magnify your unique sound. Gain confidence and stage presence.

    Learn to Swim at PAK Pool

    Ages 2-12

    There will be two sessions of swim lessons. Each session has eight 45-minute classes. Students will meet twice per week at the Pakanasink Elementary School pool. Classes offered on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. No pre-evaluation is necessary. All swim levels available at each class. Space is limited. 

    Level 1- Beginner Swimming 

    (Suggested ages 2-6) Meet in the kiddie side of the pool. Caters to brand new swimmers and those not comfortable with water.

    Level 2- Novice Swimming

    (Suggested ages 4-8) Meet in the shallow end of the pool. Focuses on swimmers who are comfortable in the water but need some assistance.

    Level 3- Intermediate Swimming 

    (Suggested ages 5-10) Meet in the middle side of the pool. Aimed at swimmers who can swim independently but need work on stroke technique,
    endurance, and comfort in deep water.

    Level 4- Advanced Swimming 

    (Suggested ages 6-12) Meet in the deep end of the pool. Designed for swimmers who are capable but need stroke refinement. Passing this level is
    adequate preparation for competitive swimming.
