Pre-Kindergarten at Pine Bush
The Pine Bush Central School District currently offers a full-day pre-kindergarten program (Universal Pre-Kindergarten UPK) at no cost to families. The program provides services for 198 students through 11 pre-kindergarten classes – three each at Pine Bush Elementary and EJ Russell Elementary and two each at Pakanasink Elementary and Circleville Elementary. There is also a class at Meadowbrook Dreams Preschool, our community-based partner. The pre-kindergarten students follow the same schedule as their respective elementary schools.
The pre-kindergarten experience engages children in activities that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth through books, puzzles, art materials, dramatic play props, and math and science manipulatives. New York State certified teachers and teaching assistants provide carefully planned instruction with lots of opportunities for children to make friends, be considerate of others, experience new things and, by the end of the school year, be prepared for kindergarten.
Eligibility and Application Process
The Pine Bush Central School District is now accepting applications for the anticipated full-day universal pre-kindergarten program for the 2026-2027 school year. Program availability is contingent upon continuation of state funding. To participate in the pre-kindergarten program, children must be residents of the Pine Bush Central School District, and must be four years old by Dec. 1, 2026. The deadline to submit your application to be considered in the random selection process for the 2026-2027 school year is March 1, 2026.
Slots Available for Current 2025-2026 School Year
If your child turned four-year-old prior to Dec. 1, 2025, he/she is eligible for pre-kindergarten for the current school year. We currently have openings at Pakanasink Elementary School and are continuing to accept applications for the 2025-2026 school year.
