Recommend the Board of Education approve the following *revised Consent Agenda as submitted by the Acting Superintendent of Schools:

Tonight’s consent agenda includes the appointment of the following:

  • Andrew Owenburg – Teacher
  • Heather Mowen – Teacher
  • Brenda Stack – Teacher

 

Creation

 Board authorization of the following creation:

  • (1) One 6.5 hr/day Teacher Aide position at CES. 

 

Resignations

Instructional

  • Donna Griffenkranz, resignation, for the purpose of retirement, from her position as a 1.0 FTE Teacher-Special Education, effective at the close of business on March 1, 2021. 
  • Andrew Owenburg, resignation from his position as a 1.0 Permanent Substitute Teacher, effective at the close of business on January 3, 2021.
  • Heather Mowen, resignation from her position as a part-time, non-tenure bearing 0.5 FTE Teacher- Elem 1-3, effective at the close of business on January 18, 2021.

 

Non-Instructional

  • Leonard Marino, resignation for the purpose of retirement, from his position as a 1.0 FTE Head Custodian effective at the close of business December 1, 2020.      

 

Leave of Absence

Instructional

  • Sara Healy, unpaid leave of absence from her position as a 1.0 FTE Teacher-Special Education effective January 4, 2021 through March 1, 2021.  

 

Appointments

Instructional

  • Andrew Owenburg, who holds an Initial certificate in Early Childhood Education Birth-2 and Childhood Education 1-6, be appointed to the probationary position of a 1.0 FTE Teacher- Elem 1-3 in the tenure area of Elementary for a four year probationary period commencing January 4, 2021 and ending January 3, 2025.  Salary level BA, Step 1 of the salary schedule (pro-rated).  Be it further resolved that, to the extent applicable under Education Law Section 3012-d and the accompanying Commissioner’s Regulations, in order to be considered for tenure, Andrew Owenburg must have received an APPR rating of effective or highly effective in three of the four probationary years and must not receive an ineffective in the fourth year.

 

  • Heather Mowen, who holds a Professional certificate in Childhood Education 1-6, be appointed to the probationary position of a 1.0 FTE Teacher- Elementary 1-3 in the tenure area of Elementary for a four year probationary period commencing January 19, 2021 and ending January 18, 2025.  Salary level MA, Step 5 of the salary schedule (pro-rated). Be it further resolved that, to the extent applicable under Education Law Section 3012-d and the accompanying Commissioner’s Regulations, in order to be considered for tenure, Heather Mowen must have received an APPR rating of effective or highly effective in three of the four probationary years and must not receive an ineffective in the fourth year.
  • Brenda Stack, who holds an Initial certificates in Childhood Education 1-6 and Early Childhood Education B-2, be appointed to the position of 1.0 FTE Permanent Substitute Teacher in the Elementary tenure area for the period of January 5, 2021 and ending June 30, 2021. Salary level BA, Step 1 of the salary schedule (pro-rated).      

 

Non-Instructional

  • Maria Wise, amended appointment, who holds the civil service competitive title of “Senior Secretary” and shall assume the internal responsibilities of “District Clerk” on probation, effective January 31, 2021.  Annual salary for the 2020-2021 school year shall be increased to $77,000 (pro-rated) to account for additional hours and responsibilities, all other terms and conditions of employment shall be governed by the Terms and Conditions of Employment for confidential employees.
  • Sandra Seyler, probationary appointment as a full-time School Secretary effective January 31, 2021 under the Terms and Conditions of the Civil Service Employees/Central Administration, noting she is certified for  such appointment through the Orange County Department of Human Resources. Salary for the 2020-2021 school year will be $45,000 (pro-rated).

Board approval of the following staff to be reinstated to the Teaching Assistant positions, based on their seniority, through the following appointments, effective on January 19, 2021 or at a later date pending the district return to in person hybrid instruction for grades 7 -12. 

  • Denise Kulak – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Angelina Vita – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Valerie Turcotte – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Debra Finn – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Bernadette Tymczyszyn – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Linda Westerfield – reinstated to 6.0 hours/day
  • Dawn Bedell* – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Priscilla Hassan – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Shannon Peterson – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day
  • Deana Adams* – reinstated to 6.5 hours/day

Board approval of the following staff to be increased in hours or reinstated to the School Monitor positions, based on their seniority, through the following appointments, effective on January 19, 2021 or at a later date pending the district return to in person hybrid instruction for grades 7 -12. 

  • Dorota Dziadosz – increase from 3.5 hours/day to 6.5 hours/day
  • Mary Meyle – increase from 3.5 hours/day to 6.5 hours/day
  • Sonia Wagner-Babcock – increase in hours from 3.5 to 6.5 hours/day
  • Russhell Gillespie – increase in hours from 3.5 to 6.5 hours/day
  • Gary Manheim – increase in hours from 3.5 to 6.5 hours/day
  • Jamie Hadden – reinstated to 3.5 hours/day
  • Cindy Rivera – reinstated to 3.5 hours/day
  • Ann Gaynor – reinstated to 3.5 hours/day
  • Madai Ramjeet – reinstated to 3.5 hours/day

Board approval of the reinstatement and the change in title for the following individuals, to the probationary position of Teacher Aide, through the following appointments, salary as per MOA (pro-rated), effective on January 19, 2021 or at a later date pending the district return to in person hybrid instruction for grades 7 -12.

Board approval of the following staff to be increased in hours or reinstated to the School Security Aide positions based on their seniority, through the following appointments, effective on January 19, 2021 or at a later date pending the district return to in person hybrid instruction for grades 7 -12.
