MEMORANDUM Accompanying Board Agenda – December 10, 2019

 II.   Approval of Minutes

The Board of Education will be asked to approve the minutes from the November 26, 2019 regular meeting and the December 4, 2019 special meeting/executive session as submitted by the District Clerk.

III.    Reports, Recommendations of the Superintendent of Schools

1.  Consent Agenda

Recommend the Board of Education approve the following Consent Agenda and addition to the Consent Agenda as submitted by the Superintendent of Schools: ON WEBSITE

2.  Approval of Superintendent’s Contract Extension

Recommend the Board of Education approve the following resolution for adoption:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Pine Bush Central School District approves an agreement extending the employment of Tim O. Mains as Superintendent of Schools according to the terms and conditions of an Employment Agreement, a fully-executed copy of which will be filed with the
District Clerk; and further authorizes the President to sign the Employment Agreement.

3.  CSE and CPSE Placement Recommendation                                       

Recommend the Board of Education approve all IEPs of the Committee on Special Education and the Committee on Preschool Special Education as submitted by the CSE and CPSE Chairperson and reviewed by Trustee Tompkins.

4.    Approval of Amended Policy 8260 for First Reading                        

Recommend the Board of Education approve amended Policy 8260 for first reading:

        Amended Policy 8260 – Title I Parent and Family Engagement

5.  Approval of Overnight Trip Request       

Recommend the Board of Education approve the overnight trip request submitted by music teacher Ralph Wagner and acknowledged by Principal Aaron Hopmayer, on behalf of one high school music student to travel to Liverpool, NY to participate in the New York State Band Directors Association State-Wide Honors Band at the winter symposium. The trip is scheduled for Friday March 6, 2020 through Sunday, March 8, 2020. There will be one student and one chaperone participating in the trip, providing a 1:1 student/chaperone ratio. The cost of the trip which includes meals, lodging and registration, is approximately $290/student. The Music Guild provides a scholarship that will pay for the student cost.

6.   Donations: Acknowledge Receipt and Acceptance

Recommend the Board of Education acknowledge receipt and acceptance of the following donations:

  • Donation from Triangle Manufacturing Co, Inc. inclusive of sheets of aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel, as well as, miscellaneous materials for use by the students in the Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Programs. (List of Items provided to be attached to the minutes).
  • Donation from Superintendent Tim Mains for subscriptions to Magic Dragon Magazine for all four Pine Bush CSD elementary schools. (Magic Dragon is quarterly magazine that publishes art work and writing pieces from students around the world).

2.     Approval of the 2019-2020 Health Service Rates

Recommend that the Board of Education, in accordance with Section 912 of the New York State Education Law, approve the following resolution covering 2019-2020 Health Services Rates:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Pine Bush Central School District establish a rate of $947.04 per pupil for the 2019-2020 school year for health and welfare services provided for non-resident pupils attending non-public schools in the Pine Bush Central School District.
