The meeting was called to order by President Gretchen Meier with the following motion offered:

MOVED by Trustee Robertson, second by Trustee Watkins, that the Board of Education open the regular meeting at approximately 6:47 PM

Consideration of Executive Session

MOVED by Trustee Graessle, second by Trustee Robertson, that the Board of Education adjourn to executive session at approximately 6:47 PM regarding the Superintendent’s evaluation.

YES – 7          NO – 0    MOTION CARRIED

 

Adjourn Executive Session

MOVED by Trustee Meier, second by Trustee Graessle, that the Board of Education adjourn from executive session at approximately 7:03 PM.

YES – 7     NO – 0    MOTION CARRIED

 

Regular Session Resumes / Welcome and Pledge of Allegiance

MOVED by Trustee Johnson, second by Trustee Graessle, that the Board of Education resume the regular session of the meeting noting the time at approximately 7:08 PM.

President Gretchen Meier welcomed all to the regular meeting, and requested all stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

BOE Approves Adding Item to Agenda

MOVED by Trustee Robertson, second by Trustee Johnson, that the Board of Education approve adding an item to the agenda (BOE Approval of District Officer for 2019-2020), noting the agenda was earlier revised just prior to the meeting to reflect the additional item.

Approval of Minutes

MOVED by Trustee Johnson, second by Trustee Watkins, that the Board of Education approve the minutes from the April 16, 2020 regular board meeting as submitted  by the District Clerk.

Reports, Recommendations of the Superintendent of School

Consent Agenda

MOVED by Trustee Kheiralla, second by Trustee Graessle, that the Board of Education approve the following Consent Agenda and addition to the Consent Agenda as submitted by the Superintendent of Schools:

 

Resignation

Instructional

  • Barbara Taaffe resignation, for the purpose of retirement, from her position as a 7.0 hours/day Teaching Assistant, effective at the close of business on June 30, 2020.
  • Francine Hicks, resignation, for the purpose of retirement, from her position as a 1.0 FTE Teacher-English, effective at the close of business on June 30, 2020.
  • Kathleen Genco, resignation for the purpose of retirement, from her position as a 1.0 FTE Teacher-Reading, effective at the close of business on June 30, 2020.  

 

Non-Instructional

  • Dennise Johnson, amended resignation, for the purpose of retirement, from her position as a 1.0 FTE 12-month school secretary, to reflect a date change effective at the close of business June 29, 2020.
  • William Demetriou, resignation for the purpose of retirement, from his position as a 1.0 FTE Head Custodian, effective at the close of business April 30, 2020.  

 

Leave of Absence

  • Laura Haldeman, request for an unpaid leave of absence from her position as a 1.0 FTE Teacher-ESOL, effective April 20, 2020 through June 12, 2020.

CSE and CPSE Placement Recommendation                                       

MOVED by Trustee Watkins, second by Trustee Kheiralla, that the Board of Education approve all IEPs of the Committee on Special Education and the Committee on Preschool Special Education as submitted by the CSE and CPSE Chairperson and reviewed by Trustee Meier.

YES – 7     NO – 0    MOTION CARRIED

 

Designation of 2019-2020 CSE Committee Member/Subcommittee Chairperson                                              

MOVED by Trustee Johnson, second by Trustee Watkins, that the Board of Education approve the designation of the following additional individual as a member of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) for the 2019-2020 school year. (Special Education teacher members of the CSE also serve as the special education teacher members of the CSE Subcommittee in their respective buildings. School psychologists will continue to serve as Subcommittee Chairpersons in their respective buildings).

BOE Approval of District Officer for 2019-2020            

MOVED by Trustee Graessle, second by Trustee Kheiralla, that the Board of Education approve the appointment of the following additional officer for the 2019-20 school year, effective April 29, 2020:

  • John Hicks:  Appointed as the Data Protection Officer, as required by Education Law Section 2d.

Acknowledge Receipt and Acceptance of Donation

MOVED by Trustee Johnson, second by Trustee Kheiralla, that the Board of Education acknowledge receipt and acceptance of a donation from Matthew Carey in the amount of $2,500 to be applied for the purchase of additional chromebooks to assist the Pine Bush CSD students.      

YES – 7     NO – 0    MOTION CARRIED

Voter Registration:  Any qualified voter can register with their respective County Board of Elections at any time prior to voting in a school election. The voter registration form can be printed from their website and mailed to your County Board of Elections.

Superintendent Tim Mains provided a Census 2020 update, noting to date, 50% of the households    have responded to Census 2020.  You can visit www.2020census.gov.
