2025 Grade 7 Regents Summer Reading – Extra Credit

The objective of summer reading is to assist students in cultivating skills that have been built upon throughout their academic year. It is the hope that reading will strengthen and reinforce those skills that are vital to all aspects of academics and beyond. Students who chose to complete this assignment will receive extra credit on their first quarter grade.

SUMMER READING EXTRA CREDIT
ONE PAGER DIRECTIONS

Extra Credit Assignment: One-Pager

Directions: Create a visually engaging one-pager that demonstrates your understanding of the novel. This is due the second week in September, per your teacher’s instructions. Late submissions will NOT be accepted. Please follow the guidelines below:

  • Upper Left Corner: Write a 5-7 sentence summary of the novel, highlighting the main plot points and key characters.
  • Upper Right Corner: Draw a hand-drawn image that represents an important symbol or scene from the novel.
  • Center: Clearly write the title of the novel and the author’s name in a creative and eye-catching way.
  • Bottom Left Corner: Identify and write one major theme of the novel.
  • Bottom Right Corner: Choose a quote that supports the theme and properly cite it with the page number (Example: “Quote” (Author Page #).

Neatness, creativity, and effort will be considered in grading. Have fun! 

You may also add other symbols, drawings, and words that represent the reading as you wish.

Extra Credit Reminder: You can earn up to 5 points on your first unit test. Effort, neatness, and creativity count! You will lose points OR your one-pager may not be accepted if effort isn’t put forth.

Quote with Citation (Bottom Right Corner) Provides a relevant quote that supports the theme, properly cited with page number. 1 Point
