Supporting Every Student’s Path to Graduation
Success isn’t defined by where you begin—it’s defined by the effort you put forth, the growth you achieve, and the future you create.
DISTRICT VISION
Pine Bush Central School District is a community where every individual becomes a passionate, engaged learner who listens with empathy, thinks critically, works collaboratively, and takes ownership of their learning. We will lead and support others in making a positive impact in the world.
DISTRICT MISSION
We will:
-
Provide real-world learning experiences that inspire curiosity and commitment.
-
Create opportunities where voices are heard and valued, resulting in ownership of learning.
-
Develop and strengthen relationships that result in teamwork that affects positive changes.
What is STARS Academy?
At STARS Academy, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. We understand that every student’s journey is different, and we are committed to providing the support, flexibility, and encouragement needed to help students reach graduation and prepare for the future.
STARS Academy is more than a credit recovery program—it’s a community where students are known, valued, and challenged to achieve their personal best. Through meaningful relationships, individualized learning, and high expectations, we help students build confidence, develop responsibility, and discover what’s possible for their future.
STARS students remain Pine Bush High School students and work toward the same New York State graduation requirements and Pine Bush High School diploma. Our smaller learning environment, flexible scheduling, and individualized support provide students with additional opportunities to earn credits and remain on track for graduation.

STARS Admissions Process
Students are considered for STARS Academy based on their individual academic needs and graduation pathway.
The process includes:
-
Referral by a school counselor.
-
Review of the student’s academic record, credit needs, attendance and other relevant information.
-
Review by the STARS Academy team.
-
An intake meeting with the student and parent/guardian when a student is being considered for placement.
The intake process provides an opportunity for students and families to learn about STARSAcademy, discuss individual goals and needs, and determine whether the program is an appropriate educational placement for the student.
Faculty and Staff
Communication between home and school is an important part of student success. Families are encouraged to reach out to STARS Academy staff whenever they have questions or concerns.

Preparing for Life After Graduation
At STARS Academy, graduation is only the beginning. Students work with staff to explore their interests, develop a post-secondary plan, and identify pathways that fit their individual goals.
Opportunities may include college exploration, career planning, apprenticeships, military opportunities, workforce preparation, Work-Based Learning, community service, career certifications, financial literacy, and resume and interview preparation.
Our goal is for every STARS student to leave Pine Bush High School not only with a diploma, but with confidence, direction, and a plan for what comes next.
