Rhyme Time! Our Pockets Are Full of Poetry Today!

Students throughout PBE celebrated Poem in Your Pocket Day on April 30!

Two elementary age girls smile and hold up small pickets they made that say Poem in Your Pocket.

The purpose of Poem in Your Pocket Day is to share the joy, creativity, and community of poetry. Students made their own little poem pockets and wore them. Some chose a poem and others wrote their own.

Four elementary age boys sit on a wall . Two read their poems to the boys they are sitting with.

They folded them up and put them in either their homemade pocket or their own pants pocket. Then, throughout the day, they read their poems to each other and encouraged others to do the same.

Two girls sit outside. One reads a poem to the other.

Such a fun and creative project for all!
