Katie Cragan signs her letter of intent to play soccer at Manhattan University

Many friends and family members gathered in the Pine Bush High School library Tuesday to celebrate Katie Cragan as she signed her letter of intent to play soccer at Manhattan University in the fall, where she plans to study psychology.

“Katie has played on our varsity soccer team for five years and has helped to boost the program,” said Jen Evans, the district athletic director. “You have left the program better than you found it and we thank you.”

Katie has racked up many awards during her playing time here. She has been named as an All-League, All-Section and All-State player by the coaches that she played against. She was instrumental in the team’s Section IX AAA championship in 2024.

Katie also excels in the classroom, Ms. Evans said, ranking in the top 30 of the Class of 2026. She is part of the basketball and lacrosse programs here as well.

Pine Bush girls varsity soccer Coach Dan Conley said that Katie has been a captain on the team for the past two seasons.

“During her time on the team she has always put the team first and individual accomplishments second,” said Coach Conley. “She has played midfield and striker for us mainly but was also asked to play defense as well when the team needed it. She has consistently been one of our leading scorers in goals and assists.”

There is more to Katie Cragan than her talents on the field and in the classroom, though.

“As good as a player that she is on the field, she is an even better person off of it,” Coach Conley noted. “She is a leader in the school and in the classroom and serves as a tremendous role model to the younger girls in our district. Katie has left a lasting legacy and will be greatly missed. We wish her nothing but the best.”

“You have not only represented Pine Bush with distinction but have also inspired your teammates, coaches and all those who have had the privilege of witnessing our talents,” said Ms. Evans. “Know we are all here cheering you on and supporting you. You are always a part of the Pine Bush athletics family.”

Congratulations to Katie and her family. We are Pine Bush proud!
