The Pine Bush English as a New Language (ENL) international dinner brought out so many of our families last week as our ENL program celebrated our district’s diversity and cultures.

David Miele and Maureen Curtain, ENL team leaders for elementary and secondary respectively, welcomed everyone to the event. Some students dressed in beautiful clothing from their native countries. Each member of the ENL team introduced themselves to the gathering. There was face painting for the kids, bracelet making, word games, coloring and caricature drawing. Each family also marked their home country on a large map at the door

And the food! The international dinner, prepared by our food services staff, included tratziki, guacamole, fresh salsa, hummus, tacos, beef bulgogi, Peruvian chicken, chickpea masala and Caribbean rice and beans, plus a few desserts.

It was a terrific event, with so much community pride and friendship.
