October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Pine Bush High School Youth Empowerment Sustainability and Service (YESS) class helped educate their fellow students about the issue.

With the help of Fearless!, a not-for-profit agency dedicated to assisting survivors of domestic violence, teen dating violence and human trafficking, the YESS students set out to educate their fellow students. On Friday, Oct. 24, purple was prevalent throughout the high school, which is the color to mark domestic violence.

During all lunch periods, students handed out literature about how to help a friend who is in a violent relationship, chatted with them and painted faces, all to garner the attention of students to this very troubling issue. There was a candy give-away for those who answered questions correctly. Fearless! was also on hand to talk with students and promote safe and healthy relationships.

Anyone who needs the services of Fearless! should call their hotline at 845-562-5340 or go to fearlesshv.org/webchat.
